Presented by:
Doug Hooton, U. Toronto
(BIO)
Webinar Description:
Design of durable concrete requires proper identification of the conditions the concrete will be exposed to (including exposure classifications in ACI 318-08), and then following the basic principles of durable mix design as well as materials selection for enhancing durability. Well beyond the control of concrete suppliers, obtaining durability in practice also includes issues such as structural detailing, placement and curing practices.
His research focuses on the properties and
performance of cementitious materials, as well as on fluid transport
(permeability) properties of concrete, sustainability, durability,
sustainability, service life, and performance testing of concrete. Together
with K. Hover and J. Bickley, he co-authored recent reports on Developing
Performance Specifications for the RMC Foundation.
