Macintosh®-Based Attendees │ REQUIRED: Mac OS® X 10.3.9 (Panther®) or newer.

What You Will Learn:

This course provides detailed instruction how to use Life 365 v2.0 to estimate the service life and life-cycle costs of concrete structures. The software provides an estimate of service life for a concrete structure in a given geographical location and allows the practitioner to vary alternative corrosion protection strategies and determine their effect to the structures projected service life. The webinar focuses on the important new features in Life 365 v2.0, including; a probabilistic view of service life analysis, life-cycle cost sensitivity analysis, and practical use of the extensive context-sensitive on-line help system.

Webinar Topics:

  • The Life 365 v2.0 Service Life Prediction Model

  • Defining service life, and methods used to extend this life

  • Life-cycle costing

  • Uncertainty and Sensitivity Analysis of service life calculations and financial assumptions

How You Will Benefit:

This webinar will provide attendees with detailed knowledge of how to estimate your concrete project's service life and life-cycle cost, and how underlying structural, environmental, and concrete mixture parameters will impact this service life and cost.

At the end of the course, attendees will be able to:

  • Estimate the service life of concrete mixtures containing: SCMs, corrosion inhibitors, surface barriers and alternative types of reinforcement.

  • Estimate the life-cycle costs of these concrete mixture additions and corrosion protection alternatives for a defined project.

  • Estimate the uncertainty in the calculated service life and life-cycle costs.

  • Test to see if life-cycle costs are sensitive to reasonable changes in structural, concrete, environmental, and cost conditions.

  • Understand how unique project site conditions will impact the life-cycle cost effectiveness of their structure.

Who Should Attend:

Owners, as well as design consultants of concrete bridge and parking structures subject to corrosion from environmental and societal conditions. Concrete contractors and producers will also benefit.
