David Ayers

Vice President, Health, Safety and Environmental
Mr. Ayers is the Managing Director of
Compliance for the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA). He
manages safety and environmental programs to assist producers in reducing their
risk liability while reducing their environmental footprint. He manages the
NRMCA Green-Star program which recognizes producers with an Environmental
Management System (EMS) emphasizing continual improvement and goal setting. He
is the staff liaison to the Safety Task Group. He has written several published
articles on safety and environmental management.
Mr. Ayers is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) and a Certified
Safety Professional (CSP). He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and a
Masters of Science (MS) in Safety Management from West Virginia University. He
also has an MS in Environmental Management from the University of Maryland. He
is also a member of the National Fire Protection Association and serves on
Technical Committees 51A (Hot Works Operations) and on the Confined Space Safety
Work Practices. Before joining NRMCA, he was the Environmental, Health and
Safety (EHS) Engineering and Facilities Manager for National Semiconductor
Corporation (NSC) managing a team of 10 highly skilled technicians. While at
NSC, he was responsible for implementing the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP)
and ISO 14001 as well assisting/auditing other NSC facilities in Dallas, Texas
and Portland, Maine. He lives in Columbia, Maryland with his wife and 2 great
kids.
