The list of key roles a ready mixed concrete company’s fleet manager plays in his organization’s success is long.

The fleet manager:

  • Helps management determine when a truck mixer - or any other piece of equipment - is costing more to maintain than can be justified given its present value.

  • Decides which maintenance tasks should be outsourced and which should be done in-house.

  • Insures that the company is getting the best possible value from outsource service providers, including spring and radiator shops, towing and recovery services, and tire services.

  • Is charged with analyzing and reporting on equipment downtime, fuel, tire and other fleet costs to make sure the company is not wasting money.

  • Negotiates with vendors to make sure the company is getting the best possible deal on parts, service, etc.

  • Makes sure the company develops and holds onto quality mechanics.

  • Is responsible for minimizing the company’s exposure to liability.

  • A ready mixed concrete-specific training program addressing all of these key elements and more is now available. Send your fleet and operations managers, lead mechanics and fleet purchasing professionals now!
