NRMCA’s Shamim Rashid-Sumar Elected to Board of Directors for the Society of Fire Protection Engineers
Alexandria, VA – December 21, 2020 – The Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE), recently elected NRMCA Vice President, Fire Codes and Standards, Shamim Rashid-Sumar, PE, FSFPE, to the Board of Directors and Nominating Committee. Ms. Rashid-Sumar will begin her term on January 1, 2021.
The Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) was established in 1950 and is the world’s leading professional society representing those practicing in the field of fire protection and fire safety engineering. The society has over 4,700 members and 100+ chapters, including more than 20 student chapters worldwide. SFPE serves its members and the profession through quality education; the development of the FPE Handbook, engineering standards and guidelines; research; conferences and publications; and outreach and advocacy. It also plays a critical role in supporting the development of the Professional Engineer (PE) licensing exam in fire protection and the grading of those exams under the auspices of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES).
