NRMCA Plant Manager Certification Class Marks Milestone As All Time Attendance Soars Past 2,000
Alexandria, VA – November 24, 2020 – The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association is proud to announce that its most popular education offering, the Plant Manager Certification class, has now surpassed 2,000 attendees since its inception in 2004. Over the past 16 years, the class has been taught by a combination of NRMCA staff and notable industry professionals in 57 U.S. cities, from the Pacific Northwest in Seattle to the south in Houston; from the nation’s capital Washington, DC, to across the Pacific in Honolulu. The class has been presented in Toronto, the Guantanamo Bay Naval Station in Cuba, and, most recently in response to pandemic-related travel restrictions, three 2020 classes moved to a virtual platform. And as the class gained notoriety, a Middle East ready mixed concrete training company franchised the training material for its audience in 2014.
No matter the locale, attendees learn from, and personally engage with, NRMCA experts, including lead instructor Gary Mullings, executive vice president of compliance and operations, who stated, “Instructors don’t want the class to select-out people. Our goal is to make sure we increase all attendees’ job skills as well as reinforce their careers in our industry. Having said that, attendees work hard. Ninety percent of them pass the certification exam.”
Whether attending in person or online, participants receive a library of materials for their post-class, professional reference. The Plant Manager Certification course’s continual relevance stems from ongoing oversight by ready mixed concrete producers’ operations, production and training personnel. This assures class content remains current and immediately applicable. In recognition of the course’s technical and site-related curriculum, the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Naval Facilities Engineering Command specify their contractors assign at least one employee on a job who is NRMCA Plant Manager-certified.
Understanding the class’s importance to a ready mixed concrete producer’s operations and profitability, NRMCA has never turned down a registrant. With its annual class schedule published well in advance, a prospective attendee has multiple opportunities to find a convenient date and location. Click here to learn more.
The Plant Manager Certification course’s curriculum development was funded by the RMC Research & Education Foundation. In ensuing years, the Foundation has funded related safety and environment training videos so plant managers can reinforce the best practices they learned in the Plant Manager course with their staff.
