The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) has named Ms. Lorri Soule of Miles Sand & Gravel Company, and Auburn Concrete, as the recipients of its 8th Annual Safety Awards. Ms. Soule is the Corporate Safety Manager for Miles Sand & Gravel Company in Washington. Auburn Concrete is headquartered in Auburn, Maine. Both were named 2024 award recipients for tireless work and commitment of safety leadership in the ready mixed concrete industry.
NRMCA’s Annual Safety Award acknowledges the significant contribution that safe work practices give to the growth and success of individuals and individual companies and the ready mixed concrete industry as a whole. The NRMCA Annual Safety Award is presented to an individual and/or company whose actions represent the very highest in the advancement of safety in the ready mixed concrete industry. The award program is generously sponsored by the Truck Mixer Manufacturers Bureau (TMMB).
Miles’ leadership noted that, “Lorri’s innovative strategies and unwavering commitment have not only elevated safety protocols but have also inspired a profound shift in how safety is perceived and practiced across all Miles organizations.” As well, in 2023 Lorri oversaw a 31% increase in worker hours, while managing to achieve an impressive decreased injury rate of 55%. Miles’ management concluded, “Lorri Soule’s leadership and dedication have transformed safety standards at Miles Sand & Gravel Company and beyond, exemplifying a commitment to excellence that goes beyond expectations.”
The Auburn Concrete award submission included the following from their insurance broker, “I have been working side by side with Auburn Concrete for the past 2.5 years as their insurance broker. In the past 2.5 years I have seen nothing less than a 100% commitment to safety and fostering a partnership of innovation which has led to great success in area of safety. To say they have been anything less than unrelenting in their pursuit of safety would be an understatement.”
As the 8th Annual 2024 NRMCA Safety Award recipients, they will be honored at the awards presentation ceremony during the NRMCA’s ConcreteWorks 2024 in Denver, CO.
